Philadelphus pubescens – sweet mock orange

Philadelphus pubescens

Native to Southern Europe.  It is a deciduous shrub growing to 4 m tall by 2.5 m wide  whith toothed hairy leaves. The bowl-shaped white flowers whith prominent stamens are produced in late spring or early summer of 5-11 together. In the species the blooms are abundant and very fragrant, but less so in the cultivars.
