Small-leaved lime

Tilia cordata

Native to much of Europe and western Asia. It is a deciduous tree growing to 40 m tall. The crown is rounded in aformal oval shape to pyramidal. The leaves are rounded to triangular-ovate 3-8 cm long and broad, hairless, exept for small tufts of brown hair in the leaf vein axils. The small yellow-green flowers are produced in clusters in early summer, have a rich heavy scent; the trees are much visited by bees.
