Red-barked, white or Siberian dogwood

Cornus alba

Native to Siberia, northern China and Korea. It is a large deciduous suckering shrub, can grow to 3 m high. The stems are red through late winter. The leaves are simple oblong; the upper side of leaves are green, while the bottom is silver green. The creamy-white flowers are born in flat corumbs to 10 cm diameter in late spring The oval fruits are white, sometimes blue.
